IAIAPBBuyer’s journey
How this tool works
International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits

Buying nature credits with integrity

Return is one part of the decision. IAPB sets out the whole journey a buyer should take, from knowing your impacts to what you are allowed to claim. Click a step to see what it involves.

Runs through every step

Governance & accountability

Owned by the board, open to scrutiny

Step 1 · Your organisation

Nature strategy

Credits belong inside a published nature strategy, not bolted on beside it.

What IAPB asks of buyers
  • Assess your impacts and dependencies on nature across operations and supply chains, using approaches aligned with TNFD and SBTN.
  • Set specific, measurable nature targets, and have the strategy checked by an independent third party.
  • Link every credit purchase to what that assessment found.
